In November 2023 I was approached by MCL Insure Tech (the parent company of Irelands largest car and home insurance provider) to overhaul their web based quote engine used by millions of customers every year. Their existing system had admitedly fallen behind competitors in terms of look and feel. This project began as UI / UX design mockups only but after developing a great relationship with the team I was tasked with coding the front end of the new system. The project involved creating unique experiences on mobile versus desktop, with emphasis on creating an native app feel on mobile browsers (78% of customers were using the currently unoptimised quote engine on mobile).

A real challenge of this project was making everything dynamic, including having a single codebase that on brand specific build commands would hot swap out branding, questions, page orders and much more.

I real challenge of this project was taking what is effectively a long, legal term & checkbox heavy insurance form and making it an engaging experience for potential clients, insuring higher retention and conversion rates of page visits -> quotes.
From the outset I was aware there were plans to do a redesign of other insurance companies quote flows within the brand, so I came up with an idea that would simplify the entire project, save developer expense and make the whole project much easier to maintain and update going forward. I pitched to make the entire project dynamic, from whitelabelled branding, to dynamic form & question structure, to hot swapped API end points on build. Gary loved this idea, and by the end of the project we had a FE codebase that worked for multiple companies. I pride myself on trult getting to understand a business and their method of working to bring value not just to teh end user but to consider the time, effort and monetary impact of a project on the company afrer the project is complete. They are aiming to have the new FE rolled out at some point towards Q4 this year.
